“A tradition for a few years now: a lovely annual winter weekend together with a large group of friends (9 families). A spacious venue where young and old have a great time. Cooking and preparing meals ourselves, with everything you need in the large kitchen. Private luxury rooms with en-suite bathrooms, combined with the cosiness of a large living room with a bar, and a children's playroom upstairs to keep the kids entertained.”
Orvelter Hof is a former Drenthe farmhouse in Witteveen, converted into group accommodation. You rent it in full: 17 bedrooms with private bathrooms, a large hall, a professional kitchen, a bar with a draught system, a games attic and a terrace. Nobody else is there.
That changes how a weekend is set up. There is no bar closing at one, no reception calling about noise, and no neighbouring party celebrating something else. Anyone who is tired heads upstairs; the rest stay put.
During the day the woods begin five minutes away on foot and there is a volleyball court beside the house. Anything else you fancy — klootschieten, a Solex tour, pitch & putt — we arrange through regular partners nearby.

What you can do here as a group
Most of it is simply there: the bar, the terrace, the games attic and the volleyball court. Anything that needs a guide or equipment we arrange through regular partners — so you do not have to make the calls.
Your own bar with taps
There is a draught system behind the bar. A 20-litre keg can be added, so you do not have to lug crates and nobody has to settle up all evening.

Klootschieten
Teams walk a route against each other with one ball per team. Whoever finishes in the fewest throws wins. It works on the heath and it works in the rain.

Solex tour
By Solex moped towards Ruinen or Laaghalen. Half a day through the Drenthe countryside, at a pace that still allows conversation.

Eighteen holes at Landal Orveltemarke, a few hundred metres away. Anyone can join in, including people who have never golfed.

The terrace faces south and there is a barbecue. You can use it for a fixed amount covering gas and cleaning; the food you buy yourselves or have provided.

Volleyball and table tennis
There is a volleyball court beside the house and a table tennis table in the games attic. No booking and no cost — usually the start of a tournament nobody planned.

A weekend, a long weekend or a midweek stay
The venue is let in full, with a minimum of two nights. The price depends on the time of year; the lowest 2026 rates are shown below as a guide.

Arrive Friday 17:00, leave Sunday 16:00. The whole house, all 17 rooms and the grounds. Depending on the period this rises to € 3,300.

One extra night for a hundred euros more. Mainly pleasant when the Friday evening runs late and Saturday need not start at eight. Up to € 3,400 in high season.

Midweek
from€ 2,200for the whole venue
Arrive Monday 17:00, leave Friday 10:00. Midweek the rate is at its lowest and the village at its quietest. Up to € 2,600 depending on the period.
All amounts are for the whole venue for up to 36 people, including 21% VAT and wifi. Added to that: final cleaning € 425.00, bed linen € 14.50 per person, energy € 3.95 per person per night and tourist tax € 2.95 per person per night. The deposit is € 350.00 and is returned within 14 days of departure. Midweek, a shorter period or a smaller group is sometimes possible — do ask.

Why a weekend with friends runs differently here
On a holiday park you sit among other guests. You notice it at exactly the moment things get going: somebody knocks on the door, the park bar closes, or you have to turn the music down because the neighbours are up at eight.
Orvelter Hof stands detached in a quiet village and is let to one group. There is no reception, no closing time and no immediate neighbour. The bar is your bar; you decide who opens it and who closes it.
Because everyone sleeps in the same house, nobody has to drive or find a taxi at the end of the evening. All 17 rooms have their own bathroom, so the following morning passes without a queue either.

There are 17 twin rooms, sleeping 36 in total. Every room has its own toilet, shower and basin. The large hall holds up to 36 people; up to 30 at round tables. For a smaller group we sometimes let midweek as well — do ask.
We let the venue in full, with a minimum of two nights. A two-night weekend starts at € 2,850 in 2026 and rises to € 3,300 depending on the period; a four-night midweek stay starts at € 2,200. Final cleaning, bed linen, energy and tourist tax are added to that. Split across 36 people, a weekend works out at a little under a hundred euros each.
There is no closing time and no reception. The house stands detached in a quiet village, so indoors you can carry on as long as you like. We only ask that you keep it quiet outdoors after midnight, out of consideration for the village.
Yes. There is a bar with a draught system and a 20-litre keg can be added through us for € 110.00, but you are also free to buy your own. There is no minimum spend and nothing is charged per drink.
You may, and the kitchen is professional enough for it. But you do not have to: we provide buffets and barbecues, and there is a luxury breakfast buffet — usually the handiest part of a weekend. A barbecue costs € 35.00 for gas and cleaning.

In Witteveen, in the middle of Drenthe. It is roughly a 25-minute drive from Assen and Emmen, 20 from Hoogeveen, and about an hour from Groningen or Zwolle. There are thirty free parking spaces right by the door. Public transport is awkward; most groups share lifts.
