Why stay the night
The evening is the programme

Ruurd Doorten
Owner, Orvelter Hof
Drive home after a day of meetings and the best conversation happens in the car — between two people, and nothing comes of it. Stay the night and that same conversation happens at the table, with the whole team there.
That is the difference between a long day and a full twenty-four hours. Nobody has to leave at five. The point that still looked too big at half past four comes back by itself over dinner. And the next morning you make a decision in an hour that would otherwise have taken three weeks and two email threads.
Meet and drive home
The first car leaves at five
The difficult point moves to next time
Two people talk it over in the car
Next morning you start from scratch again
Meet and stay the night
A whole evening after the session
The difficult point comes back over dinner
The whole team at one table
The decision lands the next morning
24 or 32 hours
Two packages, hour by hour
Both include room hire, coffee and tea, a generous lunch, a three-course dinner, the overnight stay in a twin room with a private bathroom and the breakfast buffet. The difference is how many sessions you spend in the meeting room: two at 24 hours, three at 32.

What you pay
What's included, and what you add
The price per person is a single figure for the full twenty-four hours. Below is exactly what sits inside it, so you know what still needs a line in your budget.
Included in the price
Room hire — the main hall and the meeting room, in the layout you ask for
Unlimited coffee, tea and jugs of water
Victoria cake or Drenthe heather cake, biscuits and mints
Projector, flip chart with markers and wifi
Generous lunch
Three-course dinner
Overnight stay in a twin room with a private bathroom
Breakfast buffet
You add
Single room: € 18,50 per night
Tourist tax: € 2,95 per person per night
An extra session of room hire or a second night
Drinks at the bar, on the group's tab
An activity: klootschieten, a Solex tour, a guided walk
An external trainer or facilitator — happy to think along
All amounts include VAT. Midweek we rent to one group at a time, so exclusive use of the house costs nothing extra. An external trainer who eats and sleeps here simply counts as a participant.

17 rooms, 17 bathrooms
Everyone gets their own bathroom
At many conference centres and group venues you share the shower with the corridor. For a school trip that's fine. For a team that has to be sharp at the table at nine the next morning, it isn't.
Orvelter Hof has 17 twin rooms, each with its own toilet, shower and washbasin — six on the ground floor and eleven upstairs, all with box spring beds. One ground-floor room is adapted for guests with a physical disability, including a wheelchair-accessible bathroom.
17 twin rooms, up to 36 people
Private toilet, shower and washbasin in every room
Box spring beds and free wifi in all rooms
One wheelchair-accessible room on the ground floor
Why here
What makes a venue special is rarely the meeting room
If you're looking for an inspiring meeting venue with an overnight stay, what you're really after is a place that doesn't look like the office. Every motorway hotel has a room with a projector. What makes a venue unique shows up in the moments between the sessions.
Here that means walking straight out onto the heath at eleven. Not having to ask at four whether you can stay seated a little longer. Eating with the whole team at one table in the evening instead of scattered across a restaurant full of other guests. And waking up with woodland outside the window.
Witteveen sits in the middle of Drenthe, about half an hour from Assen, Emmen and Hoogeveen and an hour from Groningen and Zwolle. Parking is free at the door, and woods and heathland start next to the grounds.
One group at a time, midweek
No fixed five o'clock finish
Woods and heathland within walking distance
Free parking at the door

What it gets booked for
Not just meetings
The same two packages get booked for very different gatherings. What they have in common: one day is too short, and the evening is part of the programme.

Away day or strategy session
One question a single day is too short for. You use the evening to let it settle, and the decision lands the next morning.
24 hours · from € 179,50
Training with an overnight stay
Two sessions of theory and one of practice, with an evening in between for it to stick. Trainers work here with their own material; projector and flip chart are ready.
32 hours · from € 219,50
Team building with an overnight stay
A programme during the day and dinner together in the evening — that's usually where the real team work happens. Klootschieten, a Solex tour or a walk: we arrange it with you.
Programme by arrangement
Kick-off or annual planning
New team, new year or a merger: two days in which people get to know each other outside their job titles.
Up to 36 people in the hall

The 24-hour package starts at € 179,50 per person and the 32-hour package at € 219,50 per person, VAT included. That covers room hire, coffee and tea, a generous lunch, a three-course dinner, the overnight stay in a twin room with a private bathroom and breakfast. A single room (€ 18,50) and tourist tax (€ 2,95 per person per night) are charged separately.
The number of sessions in the meeting room. At 24 hours you start around midday and finish at twelve the next day: two sessions and one lunch. At 32 hours you start at nine in the morning and work through to around five the following afternoon: three sessions and two generous lunches. The overnight stay, dinner and breakfast are the same in both.
Yes. All 17 twin rooms have their own toilet, shower and washbasin; there is no shared sanitation in the corridor. That is the biggest difference from most conference centres and group venues. One ground-floor room is adapted for guests with a physical disability.
There are two rooms: the main hall for 8 to 36 people, in theatre, boardroom, U-shape or hollow square, and a separate meeting room for 20. If everyone stays the night, the accommodation takes up to 36 people across 17 twin rooms.
Midweek, yes. From Monday to Thursday we rent Orvelter Hof to one group at a time. The room stays exactly as you leave it, the morning's flip chart is still up in the evening, and nobody walks through your break. At weekends the house is more often booked by other groups — ask about availability.
Yes. Alongside the main hall there is a separate meeting room for 20 people — that's usually where the first subgroup goes. Beyond that you can use the bar, the games attic and the terrace. Tell us at the enquiry stage how many subgroups you expect and we'll keep those spaces free.
You can. We add a second night with an extra session of room hire, lunch and dinner, and price it per person in the quote. For programmes of three days or more we put together a schedule and a price to match.
Tell us at the enquiry stage and the kitchen cooks accordingly. Vegetarian, vegan, gluten-free and allergies are no problem; we just want to know well in advance rather than at dinner.
In Witteveen, in the middle of Drenthe. About half an hour's drive from Assen, Emmen and Hoogeveen, and an hour from Groningen and Zwolle. Parking is free at the door. Public transport is harder; most groups come by car and share lifts.
Yes, two. The main hall — the farmhouse's living and dining area, which we convert into a layout for up to 36 people — and a separate meeting room with its own long table for 20. Midweek both belong to your group and you can use them at the same time: plenary in the hall, a subgroup in the meeting room. There is no surcharge for that.
Lock in a date
Tell us when you'd like to come, how many people are joining and whether it's 24 or 32 hours. You'll get a proposal with a schedule and a total price.
