Orvelter Hof is a former Drenthe farmhouse in Witteveen, converted into a group venue. A team day here does not happen in a numbered room off a corridor, but in a building that belongs to your group for the day: the hall, the bar, the kitchen and the terrace.
That changes how a day runs. The flip chart from the morning is still there in the afternoon. Nobody has to get up at five because the room needs clearing. And if the conversation only gets somewhere afterwards, it can simply carry on at the bar.
The woods start a five-minute walk away. A team building activity here does not have to begin with everyone getting into a car.

What you can do here with the team
Most team building activities start on the grounds or within walking distance of them. That saves travel time and organising: you walk outside and begin. What we do not run ourselves, we arrange through regular partners nearby.
Klootschieten
Teams compete along a route with one ball each. Whoever finishes in the fewest throws wins. It works on the heath and it works in the rain.

A route with assignments that the group covers in sub-teams. Useful when you want people who rarely speak to each other to spend an hour together.

Volleyball on the grounds
There is a volleyball court beside the house. No booking, no supervision, no cost — handy when the programme overruns, or when it does not.

Eighteen holes at Landal Orveltemarke, a few hundred metres away. Anyone can join in, including people who have never played golf.

Out on a Solex towards Ruinen or Laaghalen. Half a day through the Drenthe countryside, at a pace where conversation is still possible.

A twenty-minute loop during a break, or a proper hike: Orvelterzand 8 km, Mantingerzand 4 or 12 km, the Badger Trail 3.5 km.

Cooking or barbecuing together
The kitchen is professional and you are welcome to use it. A chef can also be hired for a cooking workshop; he works with Arabic, Indian and Syrian cuisine.

All prices are per person and include room hire. From 8 people. Overnight surcharges: single room € 18.50 and tourist tax € 2.95 per person. Activities are charged on top.

Why a department outing runs differently here
At an events venue you share the grounds. You notice it at the moments that matter: the group taking a break beside you, the time slot you have to fit into, the room being reset for the next booking.
We let Orvelter Hof to one group at a time. From Monday to Thursday the grounds are quiet — no weekend groups, no children on the playground, no cars arriving. Your programme sets the rhythm of the day, not the building's schedule.
At weekends the house is more often booked by several groups. Ask about availability in that case; a team day usually falls midweek anyway.

For team building the venue works from 8 people. The main hall seats up to 36 theatre style and up to 30 at round tables; alongside it there is a separate meeting room for up to 20. If the group stays over, there are 17 twin rooms, together sleeping 36 people.
A four-hour session starts at € 45.50 per person, € 59.50 with lunch. A full day with lunch is € 88.50, and with dinner, an overnight stay and breakfast from € 179.50. Room hire, coffee, tea, projector, flip chart and wifi are always included. Activities are charged on top: klootschieten € 2.75 per person, a GPS trail € 6.00.
On the grounds themselves: volleyball, the terrace, the loft with a table tennis table, and the kitchen for a cooking workshop. Within walking distance: klootschieten and walking routes across the heath, plus pitch & putt a few hundred metres away. Further afield but easily arranged: GPS trails and a Solex tour. For supervised sports and games programmes we work with JP Activiteiten.

From Monday to Thursday, yes: we let to one group at a time and the whole building is yours, including the bar, the kitchen and the terrace. There is no surcharge for that. At weekends the house is more often booked by several groups — ask about availability in that case.
Yes. Tell us when you enquire and the kitchen cooks accordingly. Vegetarian, vegan, halal, gluten-free and allergies are no problem; we just want to know well in advance rather than at dinner.
In Witteveen, in the middle of Drenthe. It is about 25 minutes' drive from Assen and Emmen, 20 from Hoogeveen, and around an hour from Groningen or Zwolle. There is ample free parking right outside. Public transport is harder; most groups come by car and share lifts.
