Nice rooms, a beautiful indoor space with a bar, and a lovely garden. The weather was good so we spent most of our time outside, but it is lovely inside as well. No request was too much, pleasant communication and a very kind owner. We recommend it to everyone.”
Orvelter Hof is a former Drenthe farmhouse in Witteveen, converted into group accommodation. For a party you rent it in full: the large hall, the bar with its draught system, the professional kitchen, the south-facing terrace and 17 bedrooms with private bathrooms.
That makes a party different from one in a function room. There is no other party behind a partition, no time slot to fit into and no closing time. The hall is already laid out the way you want it, and stays that way all evening.
Because everyone can sleep in the same place, nobody has to drive home or find a taxi at the end of the evening. At an anniversary with older guests that is usually the point that settles it.

How you can have the party catered
You can do everything yourselves — the kitchen is professional and the bar is there — or hand it over. Most parties choose something in between: have the food provided and run the bar themselves.

The terrace faces south. The barbecue is available for a fixed amount covering gas and cleaning; we provide the platters, or you buy your own.

There is a draught system behind the bar. A 20-litre keg can be added, so nobody spends the evening settling up and you do not have to lug crates.

A chef for a cooking workshop
A chef can be hired who works with Arabic, Indian and Syrian cuisine. At an anniversary, a good way to fill the afternoon.

In good weather the party moves outside: a south-facing terrace, a lawn and picnic tables. There is no neighbouring party to complain about it.

A weekend, a long weekend or a midweek stay
The venue is let in full, with a minimum of two nights. The price depends on the time of year; the lowest 2026 rates are shown below as a guide. Food and drink are charged separately.

Arrive Friday 17:00, leave Sunday 16:00. The whole house, all 17 rooms and the grounds. Depending on the period this rises to € 3,300.

One extra night, which for a party mainly means Saturday is entirely free: setting up without rushing and a lie-in the day after. Up to € 3,400 in high season.

Midweek
from€ 2,200for the whole venue
Arrive Monday 17:00, leave Friday 10:00. For an anniversary that need not fall at the weekend, this is the cheapest option. Up to € 2,600 depending on the period.
All amounts are for the whole venue for up to 36 people, including 21% VAT and wifi. Added to that: final cleaning € 425.00, bed linen € 14.50 per person, energy € 3.95 per person per night and tourist tax € 2.95 per person per night. The deposit is € 350.00 and is returned within 14 days of departure. If you only want a party day without staying over, that is sometimes possible midweek — call or email with the date and we will see what can be done.

Why an anniversary runs differently here
In a function room your party adjoins another. You notice it in the music coming through the partition, in the time slot you have to fit into, and in the bar staff announcing last orders at half past twelve.
Here you rent the whole building. No other party, no closing time, no shared spaces: the hall, the bar, the kitchen and the terrace are part of the let. The layout is already right when you arrive and does not have to make way for anyone in between.
And because there are 17 rooms, the evening does not end with a row of people waiting for a taxi. Go to bed if you want to; stay at the bar if you would rather.

The large hall holds up to 36 people, or up to 30 at round tables. If the party stays over, there are 17 twin rooms, also sleeping 36 in total. Every room has its own toilet, shower and basin.
We let the venue in full, with a minimum of two nights. A two-night weekend starts at € 2,850 in 2026 and rises to € 3,300 depending on the period; a four-night midweek stay starts at € 2,200. Final cleaning, bed linen, energy and tourist tax are added to that, plus food and drink.
As standard we let by period, with a minimum of two nights. Midweek, a shorter period or a smaller group is sometimes possible — it depends on the calendar. Call or email with the date you have in mind and we will see what can be done.
Yes, if you want us to. We provide buffets, barbecues and a luxury breakfast buffet, and we discuss what goes on the table rather than sending a fixed menu. You are also free to cook yourselves; the kitchen is professional and may be used.
No. There is no reception and no closing time, and the house stands detached in a quiet village. Indoors you can carry on as long as you like. We only ask that you keep it quiet outdoors after midnight, out of consideration for the village.
You are free to buy your own. There is a bar with a draught system and a 20-litre keg can be added through us for € 110.00, but there is no minimum spend and nothing is charged per drink.
In Witteveen, in the middle of Drenthe. It is roughly a 25-minute drive from Assen and Emmen, 20 from Hoogeveen, and about an hour from Groningen or Zwolle. There are thirty free parking spaces right by the door, so even a party arriving in a lot of cars will fit.
